ABOUT MUSCLE SOULS

"Muscle Souls brings to mind another era when the airwaves were filled with the sounds of Badfinger, Edison Lighthouse and Nilsson. As a fan of melodic music it's great to hear a band putting melody back in the foreground where it belongs"
Ron Sexsmith - singer/songwriter/recording artist

Fronted by singers John Palubski and Nicole Mintz, Toronto based Muscle Souls dig deep into their Mod, Soul and Power Pop roots for their self released EP “Mark On the World.”  The disc includes five original songs served up two ways!  Band versions charge out of the gate with horns blazing for the full Muscle Souls experience, while acoustic versions highlight the elegant vocal harmonies.  Either way, Muscle Souls balance a songwriting tradition with a crisp, modern production.

Produced by Damon de Szegheo (Serena Ryder), “Mark On the World” took the #3 spot of San Francisco’s “Pop that Goes Crunch” top 10 EP’s of 2014 while the title track made their top 30 singles list.  Muscle Souls are also being featured on many radio programs in the Mod and Power Pop community including, "Pop That Goes Crunch" (US), "Punks in Parkas" (Canada), "The Face Radio" (US), "Radio New York International" (US), "Glory Boy Mod Radio" (UK), "Ice Cream Man Power Pop" (Sweden), "Radio Free Americana" (US), "Music Authority" (US), "Plastico Elastico" (Spain), WROM Detroit's "Power Pop Stew" (US), "Reputation Radio" (UK), Dee Time - Scotland 69am and more. The title track, "Mark On the World" is featured in the 2015 documentary, "For the Love of Mod - Tokyo".

2013/14 included numerous club shows in the Toronto area, Canadian Music Week, International Pop Overthrow (IPO),  a six month residency at the now defunct Rakia Bar and a main stage act at the 2014 Le Petit Festival de Puyloubier in France.  Their video for “Mark On the World” was released in November 2015.
